Stag, hen and honeymoons specialist Redseven has taken over direct rival Eclipse Leisure in an undisclosed cash deal.

Redseven acquired Eclipse Leisure’s assets, including the company name and its forward bookings.

Both companies are based in Brighton and Eclipse staff will start working at Redseven’s offices.

“There are no redundancies resulting from the acquisition,” Redseven said.

Company founder and managing director Ian Lucas said: “It’s a very exciting time for the hen and stag market right now.

“Both Eclipse and Redseven are bucking the trends in the travel industry, and we have seen increased demand and recorded growth of 35% this year.

“Now is the time to consolidate, streamline costs and sustain this growth into the future, as the upturn in demand filters through into additional profit.

“Our acquisition of one of our like-minded competitors will help us achieve that goal and I am delighted to welcome Eclipse to the Redseven Leisure Group.”

We have just launched a brand new service allowing stags to pick and plan their entire stag party themselves.

The idea behind the site is to put customer back in control, allowing them to choose the party they want, then put it out to a vote with the rest of their group. Once the voting has closed the group leader can then book and pay for the winning stag night there and then, a first for the Stag industry!

The website also focuses heavily on personalisation. When ever users make an enquiry they are introduced to their personal advisor at Redseven, including a profile and photos. The site  was intended to be fresh and innovative in its functionality and appearance. One of the biggest priorities was its optimisation capabilities with search engines. However, it needed to be interactive to a degree and offer personalisation from a customers point of view.

The interface adopts many of the latest web2 techniques allowing the user to show and hide specific content. The users selections are rememberd form page to page, so if they hid sports hospitality on one page it would be hidden on the next.

Easy to Use Content Management System

We deveveloped a bespoke Content Management System (CMS) allowing Redseven staff to quickly and easily add, update and review all content on the site including photos, desktop images, page templates and meta tags.

They are able to enter content into a hierarchical structure that automatically generates an easily navigation system on the front end for users and a full text search facility. The CMS also has a complete searchable corporate venues database allowing users to find potential bisuness venues in their area.

Open Source Technology

The website uses a combination of PHP, Javascript, CSS and MySQL. PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML. MySQL is a relational database which, unlike most other databases, was designed from the ground up especially for the internet. The MySQL database has become the world’s most popular open source database because of its
consistent fast performance, high reliability and ease of use. It is now used in more than 10 million installations worldwide.

We have worked closely with Cactus Language over a number of years to create, maintain and support their network of websites aimed at the worldwide language learning sector.

You can search from a database of over 500 language courses, view information, photographs and details of the course, school and location then book the course. You can then plan all your travel arrangements – flights, airport transfer, car hire and even travel insurance are all available on one site!

Their web site forms that basis of all their sales activities, whether it’s a an internet customer shopping on the site or a telephone customer talking to one of their travel consultants. All orders and quotes are generated by the system, which logs all correspondence to and from the customer.

The admin side of the site allows for sales consultants to closely monitor the progress of any orders they have been assigned. The beauty of cactus admin is that it is totally internet based, on a secure server and password protected. Cactus consultants are able to login to the system from anywhere in the world with a standard internet connection.
